2026 Kikwasuni Project for Reell

Building Legacies International facilitates and leads legacy engagement experiences for companies, organizations, schools, families, and individuals. These unique experiences create an environment where participants serve together and return home to make an impact in their own lives and communities. A legacy experience is fertile ground for life transformation; both for yourself and those you encounter during the engagement.

Serving the community of Kikwasuni

Kikwasuni is a K-6 school located about 10 miles northeast of Mitito Andei, Kenya. The head teacher, Ruth, does a great job working with the teachers and local community to educate and care for the 118 students attending the school. The parents and local community are very involved with the school and have developed a group to oversee the school, much like our PTA’s in the U.S. The local church helps with securing food for daily lunches for the students. However, when it doesn’t rain there is a scarcity of food available. Since the Mitito Andei area is very arid area there is often a few months of food insecurity

Project goals

One of the project goals has already been accomplished by a generous donation for a borehole/well from a donor in the community of Northport, NY. Much needed water is now available for the school and surrounding community.

Because there is not a middle school in the community, the school wants to expand to K-8 and needs new classrooms for that expansion to take place. We know that if children don’t go on to middle school they likely will not continue with their education onto high school. So, one of the engagements will be to construct 2 new classrooms to accommodate the middle school.

The school also needs new latrines for boys and girls and a perimeter fence around the school property. Additional projects will provide a covered kitchen and open-air dining area. Several current buildings need improvements as well.

Reell Engagement

Reell’s legacy engagement for 2026 will be the construction of 2 classrooms to accommodate the new middle school. At the end of the community engagement the team will enjoy a safari at Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge to get up close to the famed animals of Kenya.
